Is Google trying to leverage its way into Facebook’s data?

It’s a theory anyway, laid out in an article I just did about Google’s “Search plus Your World” on The Daily Beast.

  1. The simpler explanation is usually best. You propose a very elaborate strategy with enormous risks to explain the recent changes to Google search. Here’s an alternate theory: an inept CEO has just trashed the company’s most valued asset (search result relevance) in a panicked response to a perceived threat from Facebook.

My theory isn’t as pretty — but it’s simple. And human.
