The pincer movement that could kill Android

On one flank, the ever-popular-and-showing-no-sign-of-slowing-down iPhone; on the other, a fresher looking (and not hampered by patent attacks) Windows Phone, with Nokia carrying the flag. That’s the argument of Ewan Spence. It’s worth a read.

  1. Surprised you got taken in by this empty, trumped-up bit of fluff.

A “pincer movement” involves coordinated action. By the author’s own admission, there’s no sign of cooperation here, nor is there an easily imaginable potential for that.

I challenge you to find one nugget of insight in this article above/beyond “the Windows phone may sell better than expected, taking some thunder out of Android sales”.

  2. That article was a “what if” built on top of a “what if” built on top of a “what if”. What a waste of 3 minutes.

  3. I’m inclined to agree with Bagha. Windows Phone is a good enough device but it’s going to need a helluva marketing campaign to make dent in the current Android/iPhone universe. Google can handle the patent fights.
