Dvorak is certainly off base with that concept. The ad was pure Seinfeld — whimsy about nothing and very entertaining, thank you — and Gates pulls more than his share of the on-screen weight (such as it is) in that video.

The thing is people, read Dvorak’s piece. He is always a tease, and a humorist, and this piece is no different. It’s called irony. In fact with a perhaps a little tightening up, and a slight adjustment in tone it could be by fake Steve himself. Have Dvorak and Dan Lyons had personality transplants?
