Polish actors paid to form fake iPhone lines

That’s what it says here, and even though it’s Fox News I’m still inclined to believe it, since it originally was reported by Reuters. Orange, the carrier for iPhone in Poland, is paying people to form lines outside stores and generate some hype. Woz apparently has leapt at the offer and is already on his way to Warsaw. Oh, and Karol Karol, the dude from the Kieslowski pictures (right) will be there. Hey, times are tough in the booming new Poland, and a gig’s a gig. Come to think of it, this whole thing sounds like a Kieslowski movie. In a time of unbridled capitalism, a fable about love and innocence: boy meets girl in the fake iPhone line in Warsaw, they fall in love, then learn, cruelly, that they’re actually brother and sister. They plot a joint suicide, but lack the courage to go through with their plan. She moves to Paris and becomes a famous actress. He moves to Krakow and opens a hair salon. Years later, unable to put aside her passion, his sister goes looking for him, and tracks him down in Krakow, but too late — he has  married an eccentric waitress played by Audrey Tautou and started a family. They all go to the country and have a picnic.

  1. So why is Gerald Casale of Devo waiting in line? – in POLAND?

  2. dan, taking events from my life and writing them as if they were the plot to some polish foreign film is not funny. or very creative. or original. and kind of mean… {sniff!}

  3. Hey, as long as the wife is played by Juliette Binoche I’ll see it.

  4. I’m pretty sure I went to that salon in Krakow.

Turns out there’s a whole vocabulary for hair care that you just don’t learn in class.

  5. Glad to see you’re starting to get your ‘legs’ as Real Dan and not the vaporizing ghost of FSJ. These last several posts have been funny, witty, and satirically perceptive without being cruel (unlike some of the initial posts pre-vacation). Alas, I miss fake Jerry Yang and the other self-serving satirical sotto voce of Silicon Valley’s arrogant leaders. But as you hit your stride, I’m sure we’ll get something even better. Kudos!

  6. You forgot the part where Karol can no longer cut hair because he’s impotent, so has to beg on the streets!

  7. They all go to the country and have a picnic.

    With Jerry Seinfeld.

  8. Hey RDL.

I’m over here in Warsaw. Couple things. They drive on the wrong side of the road. I thought that was just London. Two- where can you get a good smoothie over here?

  9. I really had no idea. I already have Moshe and a team wheels up, headed to Prague. I’ll get Katie on the phone and straighten this out. Do I have to do everything myself? I mean, right now I am re-writing the entire MobileMe code base- and I don’t even know how to write code. Great artists take great leaps. Did Michelangelo know how to paint before he took the Philistine Chapel? No way. Sometimes my greatness even impresses myself. And that’s saying something.

  10. To be honest….I think most of these posts on this site have been really lame.

  11. @Keith Kruger:To be honest…I think you are lame.

  12. Jobetheren…..snappy comeback! I wish I had such vibrant wit with which to show how big an asshole I can be.

  13. The name of this movie: “Hide The Polish Sausage In Your Sister”

  14. Wow, still can’t find the funny huh Dan.

Also, why rip on FOX News? You leftists worship CNN and they certainly are not even in their reporting.

Maybe it is time for you to pull the plug. People enjoyed FSJ and nobody gives a da*n what “Real Dan” has to say.

  15. I loved the proposed Kieslowski plot and snorted coffee, so Dan can’t be doing too bad! I love the movies too (or I did when I saw them).

  16. That Kieslowsky plot is fantastic… so true… thank you, thank you, thank you!
